Ribbish cat flap
Please don't buy this cat flat and if I could give zero I would. Microchip scan works for one of my cats but not the other therefore no option but to disable feature and use manual lock mode. However tom cat down the road head butted flap while locked and broke the cheap plastic lock mechanism so I may as well have a hole in my door. For £65 SureFlap are having a laugh.

Recently bought the dual-scan model and full marks to the product! However the arrival of a new Norwegian Forest kitten may have highlighted a real problem of “tail-gating”! Arrived home yesterday afternoon to find no sign of Monty and after 10 minutes of frantic searching spotted him outside in the garden. Huge relief but had not yet programmed the safety aspect of “in only” so this could have been disastrous! Will now use manual over-ride!

Draughty
The flap is supposed to have a draught excluder but this is set so deep into the flap that it is basically useless. Also Sureflap support department don't respond to any emails, about anything, at all.

Don't trust it too much...
I've loved this cat flap, until....
My nervous cat didn't mind the click noise it makes before unlocking (I've read some scared cats were put off by it). It's not suitable for large cats. My 5kg boy can just about fit so large breeds might struggle or won't fit. Just to give you an idea, my JRT can't fit through.
It's a bit of a pain to clean. It's not letting draught through.
And here's why I feel I was cheated by them saying it'll keep your indoor cats safe etc etc. I have another cat who's partially blind and not street wise so only gets supervised garden time daily. BUT even he could work that click noise is when it's his chance to tailgate my other cat out! I've also witnessed it to unlock when my cat (not allowed to exit, only enter) was by the flap from the inside and my dog (chip not set up) was outside. It unlocked when it wasn't meant to! We're now having to shut kitchen door when not at home to ensure our blind cat won't get out. this was the reason why we invested in this cat flap in first place...
Also be aware it will unlock when battery is low (mine didn't beep to let me know in advance).
Please, ensure you take extra precaution if it's dangerous for your indoor cat to escape. I've contacted manufacturers, but they refused to add caution regarding tailgaters nor stop advertising it as safe in multi cat household...

Brilliant Idea but .........
This is brilliant but unfortunately my cat will only enter it using her paw and so it doesn't activate it so I have to use it manually !

Great, but watch out for escape artists
We've owned the standard SureFlap microchip cat flap for a couple of years and recently upgraded to the dual scan after getting a 6 month old Bengal kitten as we wanted to keep him indoors whilst allowing free exit and entry for our existing cat. Build quality of the updated flap is of the same high quality, if not slightly better with uprated draught exclusion.
The principle of the dual scan is excellent, however the Bengal learned within 2 weeks that if he follows right behind the other cat whilst he is going outside, the kitten can get out too before it latches. So, a good product but if it's critical that a cat stays indoors, don't rely entirely on the cat flap to keep him in.

Really easy to set up & use
We ordered this for just one of our cats who goes outside the other 4 are house cats.
We got a local double glazing company to fit the flap into a sealed unit in our conservatory.
It looks neat & tidy & works really well & was easy to program using the manual.
It may not be suitable for a very large cat as the flap size is not huge.We also needed to buy the additional fitting as it was put into glass.
Really pleased with it.

A God Send!
I've had this cat flap about 2 weeks now and it's made such a difference to my cats lives and to the smell of my house! No longer can the strays get in and eat my guys food and spray wherever they feel like. Previously had a magnetic collar flap which did nothing to prevent other cats butting their way in but since installing the Sureflap the strays don't even hang about in my garden let alone come in my house. A must buy for anyone in a similar situation.

Amazing product
I had the older version for years, but the motor died, I figured it would be a good time to upgrade, this is the same size and so fits the hole in the glass door perfectly. Helps keep other cats out and makes mine feel safer indoors, has also stopped my male cat spraying indoors too. This version is much better with the draught excluder and also the click isn't as noisy, not that it really bothered me before. This cat flap is well worth the money.

Exceptional
Excellent product. Simple swap into the aperture of the previous catflap. Has prevented unwanted intruder moggies coming in and eating food put out for our cats and then spraying everywhere. Best piece of tech we have purchased in ages.

Our scaredy cat
We used to have an ordinary flap at the entrance to a tunnel through house wall, but other cats were coming in.
The Sureflap works perfectly except that our cat was totally spooked by the dropping of the latch and the accompanying clicking noise when he was in the middle of the tunnel coming in (and this is the newer quieter model). He made ungainly exits, rear-end first, back onto the patio!
So we had to go back to the basics to regain his confidence going through the tunnel. First with a bare tunnel, then the flap with no batteries (no click) and propping the flap open, then the flap closed and finally the batteries back. I put strips of black insulating tape at the bottom of the flap so that he couldn't see the latch dropping either. This did the trick, and now, three weeks after the initial installation he is at last coming in - and the neighbour's cat - who was using it all through this period, is thwarted! Great product and a very helpful help-desk at Sureflap.
