Smilla VET Urinary dry food provides your cat with the best possible support to maintain a healthy urinary system.
  • This dry food is especially suitable for cats that tend to develop struvite stones in the urinary tract
  • A major component of struvite stones is magnesium. To reduce the recurrence of these urinary stones, this food has a reduced magnesium content
  • Since struvite stones form in an alkaline urinary environment, this food contains DL-methionine, which can acidify the urine
Cats often suffer from urinary tract diseases( FLUTD), and struvite stones are the most common type of bladder stones in cats.
Alkaline urine, too little water intake or a high magnesium content in the urine can cause struvite stones (also called triple phosphate stones) to develop. Smilla VET Urinary is a dietetic dry food that has been developed with veterinarians. It can help to prevent the recurrence of struvite stones. This kibble has a reduced magnesium content which, with the addition of DL-methionine, can support the reduction of urinary pH levels. It is made with high quality poultry protein and digestible rice, as well as important vitamins, minerals and essential taurine. Prebiotic inulin can help support the intestinal flora and contributes to a healthy digestive system.

Made my cat vomit
I ordered this product to try as a cheaper alternative to the usual urinary dry cat food I purchase. After a couple of days of using it, I noticed my cat kept on vomiting and having very runny stools. I wasn't sure if it was this food causing the problem, but stopped using it and threw the open pack away. Yesterday, I ran out of my usual brand and still had an unopened bag of this, so decided to try my cat with a small amount. After only about an hour, she was violently throwing up!!

Finally one she likes!
My fussy little cat has tried most of the urinary dry foods and besides royal canin (which she inhales and then throws up) this is the only one she really likes and I really persevered with the other brands, especially as some of them are only available in massive bags!
